Youth Academy

What is Thunder Academy?

The Thunder United Youth Academy (Academy) is open to boys and girls 5-9 years old and designed to introduce the game to first-time players. It is a bridge between recreational and competitive soccer in a fun, organized program that provides a positive learning environment for developing basic soccer skills. Some key objectives are:

  • Develop fundamental skills
  • Promote physical fitness
  • Motivate & challenge each player through various, fun activities
  • Teach proper sportsmanship
  • Foster a passion for the game

Where is training held?
The Academy trains on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-7 pm at Lebanon Sports Complex. Sessions are lead by TUMFC Director of Coaching, Stephanie Borcilo and the professional academy staff, Michael Ablordeppey and Chris Schrameck.

Does the Academy play games?
The Academy participates in three Festivals per season organized by founding clubs, TUMFC, CU, and Loveland.  Each club will host a Festival. Coaches will rotate players and provide encouragement. The idea is not to worry about the score, but to encourage the players to try new things and apply what they've learned in training. Plus, it allows the kids to do what they like most – play in a game! Festivals are designed to be a learning environment.
